Center for Children with Special Needs (CCSN) Celebrates 30 Years of Service and Announces Executive Leadership Expansion

Glastonbury, CT — This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Center for Children with Special Needs (CCSN), a milestone that celebrates three decades of unwavering commitment to supporting individuals with autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders, along with their families, communities, and educational partners. Since its founding in 1994, CCSN has continually evolved to meet the increasing demand for high-quality care and support.

Reflecting on these years, CCSN’s Co-Executive Director & Founder, Dr. Michael Powers, remarked, "When we started CCSN, the estimated prevalence of autism was 1 in 500 children. Today, it is 1 in 36. Our growth and adaptation have always been driven by the needs of the community. What has remained constant is our dedication to providing exceptional, science-based, and compassionate care throughout the lifespan of those we serve."

To address the evolving needs and continue its legacy of leadership in the field, CCSN is pleased to announce a significant leadership expansion. Effective immediately, Mark Palmieri, Psy.D., BCBA-D and Seth Powers, MBA, MPH, will expand their leadership roles and now serve as Co-Executive Directors of CCSN.

“Mark, and Seth have been thoughtful stewards of this organization’s values and mission as CCSN has grown to support an ever-increasing number of patients and families through CCSN’s Centers in Farmington and Glastonbury, CT " said Dr. Michael Powers. "Their combined efforts have ensured that we stay true to our mission and culture while expanding our ability to serve more patients and families than ever before."

The leadership expansion aims to ensure continuity and stability for CCSN as the organization looks forward towards serving more patients, families, educational systems, and communities both regionally and around the globe.

As CCSN embarks on its next chapter, the organization remains steadfast in its commitment to rely on evidence-based clinical practice and maintain the values that have driven its success. "I could not be prouder of the work this entire community has accomplished or more excited to see what the next 30 years will bring," Dr. Powers added.
