Bringing evidence-based solutions to global partners

CCSN works with global partners to establish or improve programs and services available to individuals with ASD and their families. We believe, and work to ensure, that culturally-sensitive, evidence-based treatment should be available to families everywhere

For over 20 years, the Center for Children with Special Needs has provided consultative support, training, and program development to families of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), NGOs, educational settings, and community providers across the globe. Utilizing both in-country and telehealth delivery models, we have collaborated with public and private entities in the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, China, the Caribbean, and South America.

CCSN’s International engagement follows several general delivery models:

  • Individual case-base consultation: CCSN works with families and educators to provide program and educational consultation for individual children and their families (e.g. Sri Lanka, Norway, Switzerland)
  • Training and Consultation for in-country Organizations: Development and consultative support for organizations within countries that are providing services for individuals with ASD or neurodevelopmental disorders. Sites have included: schools, clinics, professional groups, local autism associations, or NGOs and services can range from defined didactic trainings modules (e.g. RBT training sequence in Bari, Italy) to long-term program building, support, and development (e.g. Almaty, Kazakhstan)
  • Partnership with Research Partners, local Governments, and International Hospitals & University: Collaboration with university and international partners to support research objectives with an eye towards scalable interventions in LMIC settings (e.g. Peru, Nanjing Brain Hospital in China).
  • Policy Makers / State-Level Decision Making: Working directly with state- or super-state-level policy makers to provide evidence-based program planning and consultation for establishing new programs or expanding current service offerings with an emphasis on equity and inclusion.

CCSN is committed to developing delivery mechanisms that support the needs of children with ASD, their families, and their communities in regions where locally available resources are limited. Our philosophy is to bring together exceptional evidence-based clinical care with a public-health delivery and engagement model emphasizing local capacity-building to reach as many children and families as possible and to help provide them the resources to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and the Continuum of Care

  • Developing an ecosystem of care is necessary to support the needs of children and their families
  • Long-term success critically depends on an organized support structure that extends from initial screening and identification through ongoing support mechanisms that address the social, educational, community, cultural, and vocational needs of individuals with ASD and their families
